How better to celebrate the return of Britain’s sunny weather than a re-emergence of the 60’s favourite music genre; surf pop? Portsmouth’s favourite foursome, Dutch Criminal Record, have already made a name for themselves after their 2016 single ‘On The Fence’ was featured on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist, they’ve since amassed 1.5 million streams on the platform, with 120,000 of those being for their last single ‘Graduate’. The boys have also been recognized and praised by big names over at BBC Introducing Solent and BBC 6 Music.

With the new single ‘Fade Away’ the buzz is only going to get better; the track is composed of infectious guitar riffs that make it feel like even if the sun’s gone in, it’s still out. Though the song might sound it’s made for long, summer road trips and sunburn in a festival field, the track is made for those who might be spending their summer not really knowing what they’re doing or where they’re going, with the band explaining the inspiration behind it; “Fade Away is a song about feeling isolated and lonely as if you might be “fading away”. It’s also about being stuck in a rut every day and feeling like nothing is changing or happening.”
Maybe the track revolves around the uncertainty of growing up, feeling a bit lonely and lot lost – but for Dutch Criminal Record, it’s only going to be upwards from here.
‘Fade Away’ is available on all major streaming sites from today (19th July), and you can catch the band at the following dates this summer;
Sunday 21st July – Bristol Harbourside
Friday 30th August – The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth
